The Zanskar Overlanding Adventure continues… 🏔️🚙
After spending a freezing night at our Deepak Tal campsite, we packed our home on wheels and continued deeper into the remote Himalayas.
Our next challenge was the mighty Shinkula Pass — completely covered in snow and surrounded by some of the most unreal landscapes we have ever seen.
From snow-covered mountains to dry desert valleys, the landscape of Zanskar kept changing at every turn.
Our journey took us towards Mount Gonbo Ronjon, one of the most sacred and important mountains of Zanskar Valley.
Three years ago when we visited this region, there were no proper roads and the journey was completely raw. Today things have changed, but the untouched beauty of this valley still feels magical.
We decided to overland and camp right in front of Gonbo Ronjon with our car as our home.
But the mountains had different plans.
Extreme cold, freezing winds and unpredictable weather tested us. Still, this is what we came for — to experience the Himalayas beyond the comfort zone.
We cooked our food, spent the night in our tent, and embraced the cold.
The next morning, a sudden snow storm forced us to change our plan and leave for Padum for a safer stay and some rest.
The drive from Gonbo Ronjon to Padum was nothing short of breathtaking — every turn revealed a new landscape, new colours, and a new side of Zanskar.
This is not just a road trip…
This is our Zanskar Overlanding Journey.
