If you love the lifted effect of winged eyeliner but find liquid liner too harsh, difficult to apply, too intense, or simply not as flattering as you’d like on your own eye shape, this soft tape technique is such an easy alternative. In this beginner-friendly makeup tutorial, I’m using eyeshadow instead of traditional eyeliner to create a soft, lifted outer corner with a clean, crisp edge. Using Scotch tape as a guide makes the placement incredibly easy and helps create a more flattering lifted shape without needing precise eyeliner skills. Whether you have hooded eyes, mature eyes, limited lid space, or you simply prefer a softer approach to eye makeup, this technique gives you definition and lift without the heaviness of a traditional wing.
I’ll also show you three ways to wear the finished look, starting with mascara for a minimal daytime finish, adding soft cluster lashes for a fluttery, feminine effect, and finally adding brown eyeliner to the waterline and lower-lash mascara to take the look into the evening.
This is a simple, beginner-friendly eye makeup technique for creating a soft wing, lifted eyes and subtle definition without relying on liquid eyeliner.
