Description
Lauren Morais was working at a movie theater selling tickets to Captain America: Brave New World when she got the offer to join the MCU. Though not her first professional role (her credits include crime thrillers The Crow Girl, The Red King, and Mudtown), it’s certainly her biggest, and if there is any justice in the world, it will be far from her last. Morais has emerged as a breakout alongside her partner-in-crime Ruaridh Mollica, with their onscreen dynamic acting as the heart of the series.
Morais plays Lisa Molinari, aka Coat of Arms in the comics, which the show cleverly pays tribute to by making her a master pickpocket. Lisa instantly forms a connection with Tommy (Mollica) when they find themselves seated next to one another on a prison bus, becoming each other’s closest confidants and friends — and perhaps even something more. From helping Tommy and Vision (Paul Bettany) sneak into the gala in Episode 4 to having nanobots implanted in her in Episode 6, Lisa has already been through a lot over the course of the show. Luckily, she’s a survivor.
Collider got a chance to speak to Morais about her work in the show. During the conversation, she revealed the backstory she created for Lisa to make her feel so authentic, MCU characters she’d love to see Lisa interact with, and how she prepared to film those pickpocketing scenes. She also breaks down Tommy and Lisa's kiss and her “harrowing” transformation at the end of Episode 6.
