Warning ~ This explore contains some ghostly images that may haunt you!...
The History.
I still can't believe this property, all the years of accumulated possessions from lives lived to the full, Family, Music & Travel, Military, Sports, Work, more Travel & BOOKS....Lots & Lots of books.
The distinguished gentleman whom we'll call Arthur, who was the last family member connected with this fine property & who spent time here & at his other home nearer to his last place of employment, I wonder if he knew the house was slowly deteriorating & what he would have thought of the current state of it now, which through more recent generations was the family home.
Arthur sadly died suddenly at his other home, so how has it got in this state, in such a short space of time?...or was it already in decline.
The family history is amazing & I wish I could share what I have learned, but sadly at this time it would not be right to do so & I do not wish to make public the details that would place this property at even more risk than it is already. What I can say though is what I have been told of the family history & I have seen the genealogy, of which dates back to 1540 when the earliest traceable male ancestor William was born & he sadly died aged just 33 years young. So that's a known male lineage up until our recently deceased gentleman, being the 12th & last male descendant since William.
That's almost 480 years of family history.....you could read a lot of books in that time I guess!.
The Explore.
My explore was all a bit of a blur really & writing of which my apologies for some poor camera work as I was a little unnerved by my whole explore experience, what with so many personal effects laid bare. I fully admit that I was completely overwhelmed with what to look at next, as there was just so many belongings left behind for me to comprehend. It would have probably been better if I had explored the property first, then filmed it afterwards knowing what was what, but it is rare that you have the time to do that, & I really want to get the viewer to experience it for the first time with each step, as I experienced it...which is what happened here, hence how I noticed some playing cards but not the false teeth next to them staring me straight in the face. oh dear!.
My Thoughts.
Afterthoughts are that just about everything in there was not at all modern & from another era, which makes me think our gentleman probably lived elsewhere mostly, maybe leaving the big house as it was lived in back in time with his parents & maybe siblings. Left as a shrine to the memories of good times past, maybe to painful to deal with, just a thought, that we will likely really never know. I loved my time spent there, but it was also a little creepy here & there.
I did hear some strange knocking sounds now & again though, as well as what I think were the sounds of a peacock! ...Oh & I must not forget being warned off... by a crazy loud Starling.
Enjoy what you can & thanks for taking the time out of your day.....stay safe!
Sadly on Saturday 3/7/2021 it was burnt to the ground.
