Ophelion is a UK-based progressive metal project, headed by Shaun and Steven Eggleston. My tracks were done piecemeal, beginning in October 2018 and concluding in July of 2023. The track sequence happens to coincide with the trackING sequence, so my hair lengthens as the video progresses, haha. There are also equipment changes (cameras, pro audio, etc.).
I corresponded with Steven throughout all of this, and he was a delight. At his insistence, I opted for my own wet mixes to showcase the material, thus rendering these as 'video mixes,' and not representative of the final product. At one point, Steven inquired as to whether I could recommend any death metal vocalists, so I roped in my good pal Gabriel Riccio of The Gabriel Construct! The melodic vocals were capably handled by Marcello Vieira.
The demos were presented to me via Guitar Pro 4, often with some lovely meat-and-potatoes intact drum arrangements, to which I added various idiosyncrasies. There are killer grooves and wild fill-ins abound, so strap in for the full journey. And if you dig the material, be sure to support Ophelion!
