In this video, I'll take you through the production of an actual cell product (insulin) to demonstrate how the cell is like a factory. We'll see how pancreatic beta cells TRANSCRIBE the INS gene, how ribosomes TRANSLATE that mRNA into preproinsulin, how the rough ER turns preproinsulin into proinsulin and how the Golgi (at last!) completes the final activation step to produces the final, functional hormone INSULIN. We'll have penguins and analogies along the way of course!
