YouTube is making big changes that will affect educators who embed videos in their LMS (Canvas, Blackboard, Google Classroom, etc.). Starting September 22, ads will begin appearing on embedded YouTube videos — even in older course content. In this video, I explain what this means for both teachers and creators in the EDU space, why it’s happening, and what you can do about it. If you use Canvas, I’ll show you a step-by-step demo of how to easily convert your existing YouTube embeds into the new YouTube Player for Education, ensuring an ad-free experience for your students. I’ll also share an AI-powered tip using the Comet browser by Perplexity to automate the process if you have a lot of embedded videos in your courses (like I do!) Whether you’re an educator trying to protect your students from ads or a content creator navigating these new policies, this video will help you understand what’s changing and how to adapt.
