Tip 6: Use Cauls to Spread Pressure

FineWoodworking Guide 2 months ago

Description

When gluing thin pieces, place cauls between the clamps and the workpiece to distribute pressure across a wider area. For interlocking joinery, such as box joints or dovetail joints, cut cauls to fit in between the joints, applying pressure right where you need it. Double-stick tape between the caul and workpiece can make the clamping a lot easier.
