I went back to an old garage on the streets of Baltimore the other day… a place that once held some of my darkest moments. A place I documented in my book, The Streets of Baltimore.
These walls saw addiction, hopelessness, and a version of me I barely recognize anymore.
Back then, I was just trying to escape life. On this day, I stood there with something I never had before: gratitude.
Funny how recovery changes your perspective. Places that once represented pain can become reminders of how far you’ve come.
I don’t look back with shame anymore, I look back with appreciation. Appreciation for the struggle, the lessons, and the fact that I’m still here to tell the story.
