Male lions are indeed formidable ambush predators. While lionesses often hunt cooperatively in open savannas, males usually hunt alone. By utilizing dense brush and vegetation for cover, they successfully ambush unsuspecting prey in areas where their heavy frames are otherwise difficult to spot.
