Description

What are the highest scoring questions in PTE Academic?

Since the August 2025 exam changes, these 5 PTE questions carry the most weight in your final score — and most test-takers are still practicing the old priorities.

Optimize your prep by prioritizing the highest-weight sections!

The top 5 highest-weighted PTE questions (new scoring):
1. Describe Image — 15% of your final score (now with human assessment)
2. Summarize Group Discussion — new task added August 2025
3. Repeat Sentence — 10–12 per test, scores Speaking + Listening
4. Summarize Written Text — 7% of your exam score
5. Write Essay — 7% of your exam score

Why did PTE scoring change?
The August 2025 update added new question types (Summarize Group Discussion, Respond to a Situation) and introduced a human assessment layer on Describe Image — meaning repeated templates can now get you failed by a human assessor, not just the computer.

How do you score high on these questions?

Prioritize your practice time by scoring weight, not task order. Describe Image and Repeat Sentence alone deserve daily practice — they're worth more than several smaller tasks combined.
