GTA 6 and God of War Laufey are more similar than you might think. Let's explore ... #gta6 #godofwar #godofwarlaufey

6 has been one of the most anticipated games in gaming history or her story. Her story, Lucia the main protagonist in GTA 6, is one of struggle – and as she’s granted freedom from the shackles that bind her, she’s joined by Jason Duval. The couple then, as the story goes, get pulled into some Leonida conspiracy as a sort of Bonnie and Clyde story unfolds.

That’s all well and good, but after the release of a new trailer and gameplay from Sony Santa Monica, I couldn’t help but notice similarities and parallels in a game I’m actually looking forward to playing more than GTA 6 – and that’s God of War Laufey!

I know, some of ya’ll are ready to click off this video because of preconceived notions you have after seeing gameplay – “how can you have a God of War game without the God of War?” They’re not. They’re just doing something different that’ll likely surprise you. And what’s more surprising is the similarities between GTA 6 and Laufey that I don’t think anyone without a tin foil hat would ever think of — but I have one, so I did.

Both stories center on a couple defined by the world being against them. Jason and Lucia, per Rockstar's own synopsis, have always known the deck is stacked against them. Kratos and Faye? A Spartan God of War and a Giant hiding in the Norse realm — two people from literally different mythological worlds, who were never supposed to be together, building a quiet life in the mountains while gods were circling.

Both women are the emotional anchor of their pairing. Lucia is clearly the more driven of the two protagonists — she's been described as the primary narrative force, with Jason being pulled deeper into her world. Faye WAS the mission. Kratos didn't move forward without her. He was frozen, hardened, closed off — and she was the reason he became something more than a weapon.

Both couples face a conspiracy larger than themselves. Lucia and Jason get dragged into a statewide criminal conspiracy after a job goes sideways. Kratos and Faye were already living inside a larger conspiracy — Faye KNEW about Ragnarok, knew about Atreus' destiny, and was quietly guiding the pieces into place without telling Kratos any of it. The difference is, in GTA 6, the conspiracy happens TO them. For Kratos and Faye, she was the architect of the conspiracy. That's a wildly different kind of love — one built on trust that one partner doesn't even fully know they have yet.

And both stories involve a broken, complicated person trying to be better because of who they love. Jason grew up around criminals, joined the Army to escape, ended up back in the life — and Lucia might be the best OR worst thing that ever happened to him, according to his own official bio. Kratos was a man made entirely of rage, blood, and bad decisions — and somehow Faye made him a husband. A father. Something resembling a human being again. That character arc doesn't happen without her.
