In the constellation Leo
Is a star called Regulus ("Is it easy to see, bro?")
Absolutely! Let me tell you why
It's one of the top 25 brightest stars in the night sky!
You can see it in the northern hemisphere
It gets higher and higher as the spring draws near
"So how far away is Regulus from Earth?"
Over 400 TRILLION miles for what it's worth (Wow!)
And even though it looks small in our sky
Regulus is almost 4 times as wide as the sun
It's also 300 times brighter
The distance to Regulus is 77 light years
The name "Regulus" comes from the word "Rex"
It's the Latin word for "king", a sign of respect
And that's also why they call it the royal star
It's a 1st magnitude shining brightly in the dark
So Regulus sits in a spot, where it's like the dot
On the bottom of a backwards question mark
In a pattern of stars called "The Sickle"
They make up the head of the constellation Leo
That's why Regulus is called "The Lion's Heart"
And it spins so fast, it could tear itself apart
Even if it only spun 15% faster
It would turn into a complete rotational disaster!

So it's not a perfect circle in the way that it rotates
It spins 700,000 miles an hour
