Let's learn about the honeybee
Cool facts about the honeybee
It's all about the honeybee
Let's learn about the honeybee!
The honeybee hangs out in a hive
Pollinating plants to help nature thrive
They pollinate one-third of the world's food supply
A whole lotta plants need the honeybee to survive!
The honeybee, a member of the bee family
Called apidae, and they fly around happily
Hanging with a group of bees called a colony
Otherwise known as a hive that is comprised
Of three types of bees, drones, workers and the queen
The workers are the ones you most likely have seen
Buzzing around the flowers, as they forage for nectar
They just so happen to be excellent collectors of pollen
As they move from one flower to another
The pollen sticks to the fuzzy body of this buzzer
And every time the worker bee lands on the next plant
It drops off some of the pollen it collected and
Before you know it, pollination has occurred
That's how plants reproduce in case you haven't heard
And honeybees pollinate over 800 plant species
It's an insect the world needs!
The honeybee is an insect the world needs!
The honeybee hangs out in a hive
Pollinating plants to help nature thrive
They pollinate one-third of the world's food supply
A whole lotta plants need the honeybee to survive!
And we can't forget
What the honeybees do when they're hanging at the nest
They bring back a sac full of nectar they collect
In a whole second stomach in their abdomen (So what happens then?)
They pass the nectar from one bee to another
They do this over and over until it loses moisture
Eventually the nectar thickens into honey naturally
So the beehive is like a honey-making factory!
The honeybee hangs out in a hive
Pollinating plants to help nature thrive
They pollinate one-third of the world's food supply
A whole lotta plants need the honeybee to survive!
