Description
The Season 8 "The Simpsons" episode "The Itchy & Scratchy & Poochie Show" marked a milestone in the show's history, where it surpassed "The Flintstones" at being the longest-running primetime animated TV series. While the original airings used the Beatles-inspired "Yellow Album" couch gag (preserved on DVD, streaming and modern cable reruns), older broadcast syndicated reruns replaced the visuals with the couch gag featuring the Flintstone family from Season 4's "Kamp Krusty," but keeping the original Beatles couch gag audio, where it surprisingly fit pretty well (as it was commemorating the Simpsons surpassing the Flintstones, after all!). This is a reconstruction I created of how "The Itchy & Scratchy & Poochie Show" opened in broadcast syndication from 1997 to 2024.
