The Mountain Peak, The Forest, and The Stones At My Feet

الوصف

My father used to have this phrase he’d repeat sometimes when I’d talk too much or ask too many questions rather than taking the action that was sitting in front of me. He’d say, “You can’t steer a parked car.”

Now I look into the future and I see three clearly definable views. A guiding ideal, the unknown and unknowable future path, and the current challenge. I call them The Mountain Peak, The Forest, and The Stones At My Feet.

The stones at my feet are currently this video, and the next. I need to step accurately and well or I’ll never make it to the forest or through it. Each step I check the mountain peak to orient myself, but then I focus on stepping again and not stumbling. Now I try not to think of the forest because I’ve spent years trying to imagine my way through it only to realize I’d been stopped in my tracks by my mind’s attempt to grasp it all. I know the only way through will be the same way I’m walking now. One step at a time with attention and focus on each step. As my father would say, “It will take as long as it takes.”
