The Lucky Stars, a high-energy Western Swing band from Los Angeles, are making waves with their infectious sound. Led by singer-songwriter Sage Guyton, the band features a dynamic lineup on steel guitar, drums, guitar, bass, accordion, and trumpet. Their music blends the energy of a Saturday night with the reflective mood of Sunday morning.
Inspired by Western and Hillbilly legends like Merle Travis, Tex Williams, and Bob Wills, The Lucky Stars draw on the rich musical heritage that blossomed in 1930s/40s Los Angeles. This era saw an influx of musicians from Texas, Oklahoma, and surrounding areas, creating a vibrant mix of Celtic fiddle, blues, cowboy folk, and New Orleans jazz – the roots of Western Swing. Based in Hollywood, The Lucky Stars are perfectly positioned to carry this torch.
With dual vocalists and diverse instrumentation, they offer a wide range of musical textures. Original songs like "Sugar Mama," "Chisel To My Heart," and “Whose Hat is That?” highlight their songwriting, arrangements, and musicianship.
Since 1996, The Lucky Stars have released two 45s and three albums (mostly Guyton originals), electrifying audiences across the US and Europe. Their dedication was recently recognized with the 2023 Ameripolitan Award for Western Swing Band, cementing their place as leaders in the contemporary Western Swing scene.
