Alba Blanco was born on May 31, 1995, in La Línea de la Concepción, a town in the southernmost region of Spain where art flows like a torrent, and a diverse cultural mix blends to create a unique musical scene.
Raised under the musical influence of her parents, both musicians, Alba began playing guitar at the age of thirteen, and at fourteen, she took the stage for the first time. At eighteen, Alba discovered what would become her passion: the American music of the 1950s, where her talent and creativity exploded.
In 2016, the project "La Perra Blanco" was born, a rockabilly trio led by Alba. Original songs, along with classics, made up the first repertoires. This is the moment when the story of La Perra Blanco began to be written. At each concert, the energy ran wild, and the audience went crazy with her guitar riffs. If "La Perra Blanco" had come to play in your city, you were crazy to miss their show.
After a year of numerous concerts throughout Andalusia and the north of Spain, Guillermo González joined the trio. Guille, a veteran double bass player from the music scene, joined the band, forming an explosive rhythmic tandem that perfectly matched Alba's way of playing and understanding music.
Their first album "Bop & Shake" (Atomic Records, 2019) led to a new stage in which the trio began to be in great demand both nationally and internationally.
The second album came in the form of a 4-song EP, La Perra Blanco (2021, self-released) where the trio returned stronger than ever, in addition to incorporating a new member into their ranks, Jesús López, probably the best rockabilly drummer in Spain.
With this new formation, "La Perra Blanco" signed their third work, "Won't You Come On" (Folc Records, 2022), which was spectacularly received by both the public and critics. The band managed to become one of the most in-demand groups in the underground circuit, performing many concerts, both at festivals and in venues.
In February 2024, their fourth album "Get it out" (Folc Records 2024) was released. In short, "La Perra Blanco" has restored hope to a large part of an audience that thought this genre was over, attracting new followers to the 1950s American music scene.
"Big River," a classic Johnny Cash hit, charted its own course to success back in 1958. Released as a single on Sun Records, the song surged to #4 on the Billboard country music charts, remaining a fixture for 14 weeks. This iconic track, penned by Cash himself, narrates a poignant tale of chasing a lost love down the mighty Mississippi, from its source in Saint Paul, Minnesota, all the way to New Orleans, Louisiana.
Interestingly, the original recording omitted a verse that Cash later incorporated into his live performances. A demo recording from the Sun sessions, featuring this "lost" verse, has also surfaced and can be found on various Sun compilation albums, offering a fascinating glimpse into the evolution of this timeless song.
