Amazon has confirmed its “Lord of the Rings” television series will make its world premiere Friday, September 2, 2022.
This trailer is a concept-mashup that shows my idea of how the teaser trailer for The Lord of the Rings might look like.

Also known as recut trailers, involve collecting multiple pieces of film footage from one or multiple movies and editing them to create a new trailer. Trailer mashups are often created for a movie that does not exist now or to change the genre of an existing film. These are derivative works as defined by the United States Copyright Act 17 U.S.C. § 101, and as such, may find protection from copyright claims under the doctrine of fair use.
The trailer mashups are not only a user generated form of digital creativity but a way to create anticipation for future releases, working in tandem with current movie trailers. Movie trailers are designed to give minimal plot detail and to create hype and anticipation. Fan made trailer mashups allow the audience to perform their own cinematic spin on current movie footage. This allows the trailer to focus on a specific actor or portion of the film. It could even change the plot or genre of the film entirely.

The series, which wrapped production on its first season in New Zealand on Monday, will stream on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. Amazon will give “Lord of the Rings” a weekly release format, rather than debut all episodes at once. The studio says the series is still without an official title. The first photo above is from the premiere, but Amazon won’t reveal which actor/character is represented.
While “Lord of the Rings” fans now have a premiere date for the Amazon series, they are still without any major plot specifics. The Amazon release accompanying the announcement reads: “The new epic drama brings to screens for the very first time J.R.R. Tolkien’s fabled Second Age of Middle-earth’s history. Beginning in a time of relative peace, thousands of years before the events of ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘The Lord of the Rings’ books, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth.”
