The iPhone Fold is coming this fall — likely $2,000 to $2,500. The leaks already tell us what Apple is going to skimp on: no telephoto camera, no MagSafe, smaller battery, software that won't use the form factor, and Generation-1 hinge durability against Samsung's Generation-7 reliability. None of that is wild speculation. All of it matches Apple's first-generation playbook going back to 2007. The original iPhone shipped without copy/paste, an App Store, a front camera, GPS, or 3G. The original AirPods got delayed 2 months past launch and didn't really work right until Generation 2 in 2019. The HomePod was discontinued 3 years after launch. The Vision Pro just got "given up on" per April 2026 reporting. Apple has run the same playbook for 19 years. The iPhone Fold 2 in 2027 is the one to buy. Here's the decision framework based on which iPhone you currently own.THE DECISION FRAMEWORK:
