Description
Why does Jesus command us to love our enemies, forgive without limit, and give generously? Is He simply asking us to do something difficult, or is He inviting us into true freedom?
In this sermon from the final Sunday of the Apostles’ Fast, Fr. Elijah explores the surprising connection between forgiveness, generosity, and spiritual freedom. Using the powerful illustration of a monkey trapped by its own clenched fist, we discover that the greatest prison is often what we refuse to let go of.
When we cling to grudges, possessions, pride, or fear, we become trapped. But Christ, who loved us while we were still His enemies, calls us to open our hands because only open hands can receive the Kingdom.
This message will challenge you to see forgiveness not as weakness, but as freedom, generosity not as loss, but as abundance, and the Eucharist as God’s greatest act of self-giving love.
“The same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” (Luke 6:38)
