The DS No. 8 is DS Automobiles’ new electric flagship, pitched as an SUV coupe fastback with a distinctly French luxury approach. The model shown is front wheel drive with 230 horsepower and a 74 kWh net battery, while long range versions use a 97.2 kWh battery for up to 245 horsepower, plus an all wheel drive option with 350 horsepower. The No. 8 is built around comfort, refinement and long distance calm rather than sporty edge. It offers Eco, Normal and Sport modes, one pedal driving and auto hold, plus a strong cruise control system linked to navigation that can anticipate bends and roundabouts and even assist with lane changes. DC charging is up to 160 kW, with 20 to 80% quoted at around 26 to 27 minutes depending on battery, making motorway stops realistic. The long wheelbase helps stability, and the cabin is exceptionally quiet thanks to double glazed windows.
Design is a big part of the appeal, with the DS Lumiere illuminated grille, DS light blade signatures, flush handles and hidden rear door handles for a coupe look.
