I had the chance to spend some good time with the kids of the #Changpa #nomads of #Rupshu (#Tsokar lake) this winter.
It is a common theme across the world that children of farmers and shepherds do not want to grow up and follow in the footsteps of their parents. And the same is happening in Ladakh as well. The children of the Changpas don't want to be Changpas when they grow up. Instead they want to be in the army, become a monk or a nun, drive a taxi, become a teacher or do just about anything except become a nomadic #shepherd like their parents.
It is no surprise then that the number of Changpa nomads in #Ladakh keep reducing year by year and this way of life might totally disappear in a few decades.
