the biggest mistake we make in love

There is no such thing as never having to ask for what you want.

This next line, is a trap:
"If you really loved me, you would know what I need without me having to say anything."
It's a line we've all heard or maybe even said.
"If they loved me, they’d just know," right?
They’d recognize when I'm tired, need of a hug, or when to just listen.

“I shouldn’t have to ask for this very obvious thing, besides, if I asked for it, it wouldn’t be authentic.”

But that is a test that's impossible to pass and a giant red flag because it's not about being heard. it's about being understood without speaking.

This belief that love, or the world, should read our minds is a myth.
And the only time in our lives it made sense to have our needs met without asking was when we were infants. But you’re not a baby anymore. You're grown. You have words. You have a voice.

and I believe that underneath that impossible expectation is a deep rooted fear of rejection.

So you wrap yourself in silence like a safety blanket without realizing you're building a wall.

a barrier between you and the people you love, the opportunities you desire, the life you want to live.

And as much as you wished someone would,
No one is coming to save you.
No one is coming with a roadmap to the treasure that is you.
No perfect job is going to fall into your lap.
No perfect partner is going to come knocking on your door.
You have to take down that wall.
Brick by brick.
Word by word.
Because good things don’t always come to those who wait.
Good things come to those who ask.
