For most people, a close encounter with something other belongs safely in the realm of science fiction. For Whitley Strieber, it became a defining mystery in his life. In December of 1985 at his cabin in upstate New York, he claimed that his life began being repeatedly interrupted by visits from nonhuman beings— terrifying entities that appeared in his home, communicated with him, and altered his understanding of reality itself. He documented the events that occurred in his 1987 book called Communion: A True Story by Whitley Strieber.
