Check out this time-lapse video of the Base Drive LDU in the AEM EV Testang being swapped out for a Sport Drive LDU for road testing validation! In real-time, it took about an hour.
The unitization of the Tesla drive unit, combined with the way it is packaged on the subframe, makes it easy to get the motor in and out once you have determined the subframe and suspension mounting points in your conversion. Although, given the reliability of electric motors, there's little reason to pull it out again.
Once it's in, AEM EV has the electronic controls you need to ensure the best performance, safety, and road manners, with no compromise on features that provide creature comforts.
