Description

In this video, we cover the essential Tenable Nessus agent command line operations for Linux within Tenable Vulnerability Management. Whether you are setting up a new sensor or troubleshooting an existing one, mastering these commands is a critical skill for your tenable vulnerability management and tenable exposure management initiatives.

We start by navigating to the default Linux installation directory at /opt/nessus_agent/ and accessing the sbin folder where the nessuscli tool resides. Because these are administrative tasks, we demonstrate how to properly use sudo to execute the commands. The tutorial walks step-by-step through building the primary linking command, showing exactly how to input your unique key, define the host and port parameters, and assign the agent to a specific group in your console. After linking, we cover how to start the agent service so it reports back as online and healthy.

Beyond basic linking, we explore other highly useful commands such as checking the agent status and cleanly unlinking a sensor. You will also learn advanced tricks, like using the name parameter to customize how the agent appears in your console, and using the status command to reveal the agent's unique UUID. Finding this UUID is incredibly helpful for filtering and locating specific machines when you manage hundreds of sensors within your Tenable environment. #TenableVulnerabilityManagement #TenableExposureManagement #NessusAgent #LinuxSecurity #CyberSecurity #SysAdmin #CommandLine @Tenable @TenableProductEducation
