STS-41 - Onboard Recording of Launch
A tape recording of the sounds from inside the Space Shuttle
Discovery as it launched to orbit on October 6th 1990.
Audio is PAO only until T-5 minutes when the onboard track starts
just as the crew are starting the APU's. From that point audio is a
stereo track (Left PAO/Right onboard tape). Just before ET SEP the
audio is onboard tape only.
Note that when the crew lower their visors no onboard comms can be heard from them until they open their visors again after SRB SEP. Sounds to listen out for include the ignition of the SSMEs and SRBs, SRB SEP and ET SEP.
This audio gives an idea of what was heard during a Space Shuttle launch.
