Just off the southern tip of India lies Sri Lanka, a tropical island filled with ancient history, breathtaking landscapes, and incredibly warm people. In this journey across the Pearl of the Indian Ocean, I explore some of the country’s most iconic places — from sacred temples and jungle fortresses to misty tea plantations and golden beaches.
Over six unforgettable days, I traveled across Sri Lanka with my guide Chanu, discovering the island’s rich culture, spirituality, cuisine, and natural beauty.
From climbing the legendary Sigiriya Rock Fortress to walking through emerald tea hills in Nuwara Eliya, hiking Little Adam’s Peak in Ella, and relaxing on the beaches of Ambalangoda, every stop revealed a different side of this remarkable country.
Along the way I experienced:
• The ancient Dambulla Cave Temple filled with Buddha statues and murals.
• The breathtaking climb up Sigiriya Rock.
• A traditional Sri Lankan village experience and cooking lesson.
• The sacred Temple of the Tooth in Kandy.
• Sri Lanka’s famous tea plantations.
• The iconic Nine Arches Bridge in Ella.
• Mangrove forests along the Madu River.
• The vibrant capital city of Colombo.
Sri Lanka has more than 2,500 years of history, and today it stands as a resilient nation with a deep cultural heritage and extraordinary natural beauty.
Traveling here reminded me why I love exploring the world: the people you meet, the stories you discover, and the moments that stay with you long after the journey ends.
