We were herping in Florida when the following happened.
First we saw a hawk trying to get something that was hiding in some brush. After a while he lost interest and flew off. It turned out to be a Florida water snake hiding from the hawk. After a while we saw another (or maybe the same) hawk, munching away at another water snake. He got harassed by other birds and while he abandoned his meal I snuck in for a quick peak. I compared headpatterns from snakes and can safely say that the snake we found and the one he ate are two different individuals.
