The most successful day of herping in Germany I have ever had.
Yellow bellied toad suffer greatly from habitat loss and poisoning of water due to fertilizers and other such products. They are strictly protected in Germany.
Green lizards (Lacerta viridis) are Germanys rarest lizard species and also strictly protected.
Aesculapian snakes can only be found at a couple of locations in Germany and there the populations suffer genetically because they are cut off from each other.
