When Shaun’s heart began to fail, his parents came from Cleveland to Nationwide Children’s Hospital, where he could receive the care he needed while waiting for a transplant.
A device helped Shaun’s heart pump blood as his team cared for him day after day. Over the months, he grew stronger, laughed, played and took some of his first steps in the hospital hallways.
Then came the call: a donor heart was available. Today, Shaun is home, where his parents can hold him close and watch him grow.
