Every animal in our care has a story.
Some were orphaned in the wild. Others were injured, displaced, or unable to survive on their own. At the Columbus Zoo, these animals receive expert care, safe habitats, and a second chance.
In the new North America Trek region, you will meet animals whose stories reflect both the challenges wildlife face and the incredible impact that compassionate care can have.
You’ll hear about Captain Cal, a mountain lion cub rescued during the California wildfires after suffering burns to his paws. You’ll meet Ursula and Yzma, orphaned black bear cubs from Montana. And you’ll discover animals like Zuni the bald eagle, whose story helps inspire guests to care about protecting wildlife.
Assistant Curator Josh Keller works with these animals daily and shares how your support helps provide lifelong care for animals that can no longer survive in the wild.
