Hope you enjoy this arrangement of Scarlatti’s Sonata K.159 with the wonderful Jakob Schmidt! The two instruments in this video are a quint guitar and a quint-bass or baritone guitar, both built by the brilliant Daniel Zucali. Using these differently tuned instruments really opens up a new world of harmonies and sounds that we wouldn't typically hear on the standard classical guitar. Having the immense range that is offered in this setup lets us experience more separation in lines and allows us to emulate the potentialities of a string quartet. It was such an enriching experience - hope you enjoy the video and find this arrangement as charming as I did!
