Rejection can feel like it should end once the moment is over, but for many people with BPD or BPD traits, the aftermath keeps going.

You may replay what happened, attack yourself, draft messages you never send, post something you hope they see, or imagine the conversation where they finally understand your pain. This doesn’t mean you’re broken. It means your nervous system is trying to close an open loop.

In this video, Dr. Daniel Fox explains the four common rejection aftermath channels: self-attack, reaching for closure, passive expression of pain, and revenge fantasies or imagined confrontations. You’ll learn why these reactions happen, why shame often makes the loop worse, and how naming the channel can help you respond with more clarity and less self-blame.
