Description
Reductionism is a leftfield genre of minimalism used as an umbrella term for several styles and scenes, all focused on various forms of reduction, whether it is dynamic, compositional or textural reduction. Due to their experimentation potential and diversity, these scenes started to become highly collaborative with one another, mutually exchanging ideas and approaches a few years after their respective development in the 90s. Among these include Lowercase, Onkyo, quiet Modern Classical pieces (mostly Chamber Music) and a few Electroacoustic/EAI scenes, often incorporating Free Improvisation or even Indeterminacy.
