Description
That Ravens lost both their third straight game, and their franchise quarterback (again), and both Todd Heap and Dennis Pitta have quite a bit to share as they break down yesterday's blowout defeat with Marianne & Joe Robinson on this week's Purple Power Hour.
Yesterday, we saw the Ravens lose Lamar Jackson, Tyler Huntley, and eventually turn to undrafted rookie, Joe Fagnano, in one of the strangest games of the season.
The biggest concern is obviously Lamar Jackson's injury. Todd and Dennis discuss the severity of the situation, the possibility that Lamar could miss at least four games, and whether Baltimore can somehow stay competitive long enough to make a late-season run if he returns. They also examine the brutal timing of the Ravens' schedule, with Jacksonville coming to Baltimore on a short week and the team having very little time to prepare its rookie quarterback.
The guys then search for whatever positives they can find in the loss. Roquan Smith earns plenty of praise after recording 11 tackles and making several big plays, while Todd points to a renewed physicality from Baltimore's defense. The crew also discusses Josh Allen, the Ravens' defensive front, and some of the moments that could have changed the game.
Then it's time for the "Pits", and there are plenty to choose from. The crew breaks down Baltimore's struggling offensive line and pass protection, Derrick Henry's limited opportunities, the secondary's coverage problems, the missed field goal, and perhaps the most frustrating offensive statistic of all: Zay Flowers finished with zero catches. Dennis explains why Baltimore has to find creative ways to get its most explosive offensive player involved, especially with a young quarterback potentially taking over.
The show also features a special edition of Questions From the Bleachers, with a fifth grader asking Todd and Dennis about one of the most legendary Ravens of all time: Ray Lewis. Todd shares what it was like playing alongside Ray and calls him the best leader he's ever been around, while Dennis tells an incredible story about being a rookie and having his first full-pads NFL hit come from Ray Lewis himself.
The Purple Power Hour features exclusive Ravens analysis every Monday and Friday with two of the most accomplished tight ends in franchise history.
