Reacting to the "feedback" I got on my latest video and shaking my head at how confidently people voice opinions when they have very little actual understanding of the situation.
I forgot to mention the second big reason why I designed the Y axis the way I did: it's easier and neater. Mounting the linear bearing directly to the concrete would be MUCH more difficult to do accurately, even with the anchors I cast into the concrete. I'd have to be MUCH more careful placing those anchors before the pour, and that would be ruined if they moved even slightly.
My next project (starting around the beginning of December, I think) is a fancy toolbox inspired by the Gerstner models that have several drawers. I will be machining some of the parts for that project on the CNC, though, but all of the work could be done using the usual woodworking tools.
