"Plastic in our Veins" is an upbeat, satirical song about a depressing subject, the proliferation of plastic in the world and now microplastics in our bodies.
This song arose while listening to the IMY2 Cover of "Dreams" by the Cranberries. I was thinking about my grandchildren and all the disposable plastic toys and plastic garbage in the world they are inheriting, plus the microplastics problem. The first lyrics spontaneously emerged to the "Dreams" melody, which soon fleshed out to become a full song.
Not being a singer myself, I turned to iLoveSong.ai to bring the music to life with acoustic guitar, deep resonant bass, and dynamic drumming, shifting in intensity between verses and chorus. The result could be described as dream pop with hints of folk rock.
I turned to NeuralFrames.com to generate the music video. Two different versions of the video were chopped, re-arranged, and edited together in Final Cut Pro to optimize the final video and to remove AI artifacts (such as detached extra hands). The eight-string guitar is still kind of funny.
The end result is a catchy tune about a dark subject, one which I hope will help raise awareness and motivation to tack action to reduce plastics in our world.
