Description
The Lynton and Barnstaple Railway opened in 1898 and closed in 1935.
By 1979 the railway was nothing but a distant memory. The entire route was privately owned, by countless individuals. It's taken quite a while, but now over 40% of the original route is owned by organisations intent on reinstating the railway.
Over the years volunteers have been working tirelessly clearing trackbed and restoring stations.
Here's a glimpse of what has been achieved and what still remains to be done.
