Today, the Met secured their first conviction under a new sex-based harassment law, which came into force in April 2026.
This legislation helps protect both members of the public and emergency service workers from sex-based harassment, including wolf whistling, sexual verbal abuse and intimidation. It applies equally to male and female victims of harassment.
Those convicted face up to two years in prison.
