Description

Namaste to one and all

This video will take you through a nostalgia trip as it explores some of the oldest surviving dubbed female songs from around the world, as recorded in localized versions of foreign animation, television series, and musical films.

While the United States' Disney Animation has been a pioneer and one of the most avid localizers across the world, covering most of the video rightfully, it still is interesting to note how dubbing history (especially in context of female singing) did not begin the same way for every language or country. In some countries, song localization emerged through Hollywood musicals, while in others, it began with Japanese anime, Soviet animation, Bollywood musicals or as in the case of Israel, a beloved Swedish children's show!

This compilation focuses specifically on historically early, verifiable examples of female-sung localized numbers — including solos, duets, and ensemble pieces — recorded in languages different from their original versions. These performances represent the foundational moments when female voices first began musically crossing borders through dubbing.

Note: In certain cases, the song included may not represent the absolute first dubbed female song ever recorded in that country or in that language. Instead, it reflects the earliest surviving, documented, and publicly accessible example currently verifiable through available footage on the internet.
