Namaste to one and all, and a Happy Pride Month!!
This pride, I thought it'll be a perfect moment to visit through some of the most campy and iconic female songs from animation films and series across the globe!
Camp is a style that's very diverse and it has a different meaning for every person out there. That being said, a common theme across all things camp, is a certain level of drama, a flair, an 'extra-ness' that makes the self-expression pop out effortlessly. It's a theatrical showcase of creativity, (and in my video's case particularly, feminine creativity), in an unabashed manner, in all its perfection, or imperfection alike.
Animation has displayed such campy songs and performances since ages for all types of female characters - right from the iconic Betty Boop to the imposing and dramatic Ursula of The Little Mermaid and so on, from all across the globe. They have inspired countless men, women, gays, trans and people of all other identities to find their self-expression and love who they are.
