My latest miniature scale model artwork is of an old bookshop, Gould's Books. Gould's on King Street was a Sydney institution, and as I have an exhibition coming up in that city I thought it would be good to make something local. I remember spending countless hours in Gould's when I was at uni in the 1990s - it was a chaotic labyrinth inside, a bit smelly and a bit overpriced, but always amazing! Sadly this location closed in 2011, and Newtown has never quite been the same again...
This urban diorama is in 1/35 scale - not for any conscious reason, other than that it worked out to be about 40cm wide, which is a maximum length I find good to work to. I hope you like it :)
