Hey guys! This is yet another video prepping the tow rigs for our trip to the Rubicon Trail. So far, I have added airlift suspension airbags to the rear axle, Powerstop Z36 pads and rotors, and now it’s time to address the trailer brakes.

I am a huge fan of the versatile trailer that I bought from fab form industries, through Ronco trailers in Vista California. However, once I have a vehicle on that trailer behind my truck, I need more stopping power. My trailer is equipped with tandem 5200 pound braking axles , so adding a brake controller to utilize that function seemed really important to me.

I found this controller kit on Google after doing a very quick search. It is a bit more expensive than the other OEM brake controller kits for these trucks, but it includes the security bypass module and the flash programmer for the OBD2. With these extra parts, there is no need to take this into a dealership to have them flash it for you, which would probably cost in the ballpark of $150, I’m guessing.

This kit included everything that I needed to get this job done, and the brake controller works extremely well! I am very pleased with this project and now it’s time to move onto upgrading the wheels and tires on this truck next.

Thank you for watching!
