Description
It’s not the monsters that scare you in horror movies. It’s the lighting.
The trick works on your brain every time, and you never notice it.
If you’ve ever wondered why a scene feels deeply uncomfortable even when nothing is happening on screen, the answer is usually where the light is coming from. In daily life, light comes from above, like the sun or a ceiling lamp. Horror lights scenes from below, which flips the shadows on a face and feels unnatural to us straight away. That’s a useful lesson for anyone making video. Where your light sits decides how your audience feels before you say a word. This is for streamers and creators on Twitch or YouTube who want to light their face on purpose instead of by accident. Why does lighting from below look so scary? Because it inverts the shadows we expect, and the brain reads it as wrong.
This channel is for people making things nobody is watching yet. We cover the unglamorous side of streaming and content creation: the settings that quietly ruin your audio, the reason a stream stutters when your internet is fine, the camera and lighting choices that make a channel look amateur, and the parts nobody warns you about before your first broadcast. Our videos tend to fall into three kinds: a mistake we made and what it cost us, one specific problem fixed in under a minute, and the honest reality of going live to an empty chat. If you’re trying to get your lighting to work for you, upgrading a setup that mostly works, or just curious why your video feels off, you’re in the right place. New videos every week.
