Delhi: TMC MP Mahua Moitra said: “Today, the entire Opposition—including the Congress, Samajwadi Party, DMK, JMM, Aam Aadmi Party, National Conference, Left parties and Shiv Sena (UBT)—walked out of the all-party meeting as a mark of protest.
The reason is that, in the case of the so-called NCPI, which is an unrecognised party, the list provided by the Table Office shows the strength of the All India Trinamool Congress as 28 members.
The Speaker has not approved the merger of these so-called 20 rebel MPs. Twenty disqualification petitions concerning them are still pending. After the 91st Constitutional Amendment, there is no scope for the formation of a separate faction.
On what basis, then, did the Parliamentary Affairs Minister invite these 20 rebel MPs, and how were they allowed to participate in the meeting?
We registered our strong protest and walked out of the meeting symbolically. We thank all the Opposition parties for supporting us.”
