“Bob [Dylan] is one of a kind, one of my greatest heroes,” Mike Campbell says. “I learned a lot from being around him.”
In the mid-1980s, Campbell, along with his bandmates in Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, collaborated with Dylan on the albums Empire Burlesque and Knocked Out Loaded, and they also accompanied Dylan on a tour around the world.
In an interview with Zach McCormick at The Current, Mike Campbell reflects on his time working with Bob Dylan and on the role he and the Heartbreakers had in helping revitalize the Minnesota-born legend’s career.
