My father has raised 14 of us with the help of our mother. He did his best to keep us socially aware, taught us who we are, where we come from, and our rights for when we are old enough to independently navigate through society. He shed light on the truth and reality we would have to face from an early age and that we are a long fight away from just simply co-existing as an ethnic minority person in the United Kingdom, an African person, a Muslim person! After living in the UK for almost 30 years, my father speaks on his perspective. This is my fathers spoken word poem dedicated to the racial injustice, inequalities and police brutality inspired by the death of George Floyd. History keeps repeating itself but we need real change and we’ll continue striving for JUSTICE.
