Description
After years of campaigning over animal welfare concerns, Sea Life London Aquarium is set to close its controversial penguin enclosure.
The 14 gentoo penguins are expected to move to Birmingham in 2028, where they'll join a larger colony in a new habitat with natural light and more space to swim.
Merlin Entertainments, which owns both attractions, says the new enclosure will be designed to better reflect the birds' natural environment.
Campaigners have welcomed the decision, following years of pressure over the penguins' living conditions.
